New report sets out ten practical principles to help city regions plan and deliver low carbon neighbourhoods at scale.
AESG, working with the LDN Collective and West London Business, has published Net Zero Neighbourhoods, a report that shows how neighbourhood scale projects can play a central role in meeting climate goals and unlocking new investment. The work responds to real pressures in West London, where grid constraints and rising demand are already affecting the delivery of new homes and jobs.
The report identifies the neighbourhood as the right scale to join up energy, transport, buildings and public realm. It sets out ten core principles for net zero places, illustrated with international case studies and examples of emerging innovation, from heat networks and local energy systems through to new funding models, data and digital tools.
The LDN Collective helped shape the brief, refine the structure of the principles and ensure that the report meets the needs of local authorities, developers and investors who have to turn climate commitments into funded project pipelines. The work builds on the Cities Commission for Climate Investment and positions West London as a test bed for practical climate investment.
Net Zero Neighbourhoods offers a shared framework that other city regions can adapt to their own context, using it to guide local policy, regeneration strategies and investment decisions.
